Dismantling and felling of an Austrian Pine of 750mm diameter and 80 years of age. The main trunk and root plate were stable, yet the crown had received a battering. Previously split limbs had failed with a large limb narrowly missing the owners house. See out face book page for a video of the fell in progress. Notice a bit of holding on the hinge on one side to tweak it into the desired felling zone & onto the brash mat. All went well to the relief of the householder!! Pinus nigra is a commonly planted tree introduced into Britain by Messers. Lawson of Edingburgh in 1835. Native of Europe from central Austria to Italy. An excellent wind break tree, yet one which unfortunately has not survived these gales.
